My first sea-kayak trip with a group since moving to Mayo! It was great to get out on the sea again 🙂
It was another overcast day, but that didn’t matter. We did a longer trip than the one I did a month ago; heading out to stop for lunch on Inishoo before turning south to the lighthouse. We stopped again at the lighthouse and took a look around before heading back.
It was nice to be going out into the sea with an experienced group. Though the conditions weren’t really challenging, it’s just great fun when there’s something I would be hesitant about solo, but can just go for because of the safety of the group. We crossed a shallow reef that was a bit turbulent on the west side but was very shallow so we had to time it right. There was also a decent following wave when heading round the lighthouse which gave us a good push. That was fun too 🙂
Apparently the Inishgort lighthouse is for sale for €1, with the caveat that it be used for some maritime-themed business that contributes to the local economy and culture.
